Jarvis, thanks for explaining that the battery was the "CMOS battery." I've seen that term so often but never knew what it meant. Check the front panel LEDs (lights) on the bezel (front face) or the optical drive and check if you hear the internal fan.Īgain, thank you so much for being here! You guys rock!

I wasn't sure how to remove the battery because it seemed like it was glued in there!ġ. Short of calling in a technician or bringing the system unit to a repair shop, would you have any suggestions?Īctually, before I did that, I tried the Acer live chat (I didn't even know they had this), and the technician gave me a way to do a power drain without removing the battery. Well, not being at all technical, I'm staring at the inside of my computer and see what looks like a watch battery on the motherboard but am not sure that is the battery that is supposed to be removed. I think they said this had something to do with discharging excess electricity. I've been all over the internet (including the Acer site) and I've read that one should remove the battery, unplug the power cord, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, plug in the power cord, reinsert the battery, and try again. Finally, a little flicker of life as if it were trying. I even tried unplugging the power supply from the UPS and directly into the wall and still nothing. I also use a backup UPS and it is running perfectly.īottom line is that I tried to start the computer this morning and nothing happened. Every time in the last few years that I've had a tech problem, there's been nothing you guys couldn't resolve, so here goes: I have the latest version of the BIOS (LENOVO 5HKT50AUS. I am not too computer literate but somehow I have a feeling that this has something to do with the BIOS. Otherwise the computer works fine but I want to fix this in case I ever have to boot up from a rescue disk. When I do that only the hard drive shows up. When booting up at the Lenovo splash screen I am supposed to be able to tap F12 and be presented with a list of devices to boot from. The BIOS is set to boot from the optical drive first and the hard drive second.
Also, the optical drive shows up in Device Manager and in My Computer, and I can browse any of those bootable disks from Explorer I just can't boot from them.

I have tried several bootable disks and none of them work yet those same disks boot up my other computer so I don't think it's bad disks. Bref j ai trouv ce street fighter trs bon ,mais ne vaut pas le coup pour le moment n tant pas complet je le prendrais certainement dans 7 mois et un peu moins cher aussi.De plus je suis.
My problem is that I am not able to boot up from the CD/DVD drive.

I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M58e running Windows 7 32. Mes 3 frames ne passent pas et je commence srieusement perdre patience. Hi, I haven't been able to get this resolved in the Lenovo forums so I thought I'd try here.
